Day 1: Petersham, MA to Niagara Falls, NY
Up and showered, now just waiting for Dylan to get home from the gym so we can bid her goodbye. Rich just walked in and is sanding the decorative soapstone edge he installed yesterday behind the stove. Between the two of them, they’ll continue to clean, prep, and tidy the house to be shown seven times over the next week. With any luck, dad will sell his house quickly, easily, and for more than the asking price. (Angels, did you get all that?) In case you missed it in the last post, you can see the listing for dad’s house here.
Got on the road about 11:00 AM (here we are starting our adventure) and went to Greenfield first to pick up the new soft carpet floor mats for the Prius. I don’t like to wear my shoes all the time, so this was a special request from me - to get some carpet mats to replace the utilitarian rubber ones. I must say, it’s much easier driving when you can take off your shoes and stretch your toes!
Quick stop for gas and lunch, then continued west into New York. Did any of you know that Troy, NY is the home of Uncle Sam? From there to Schenectady, where we jumped on I-90 all the way to Buffalo. Mediocre Chinese takeout dinner tonight in the hotel, but we toasted with our ice tea anyway. Tomorrow morning we head over a couple streets to see Niagara Falls before continuing south and west towards Indianapolis. Next major stop: Uncle Gary’s house!
Sleep well out there, y’all. And to my friends and family in the Deep South, watch out for that severe weather scheduled to hit all day Saturday.
