Day 34: Chattanooga, TN and environs
Did everyone see the Flower Moon and lunar eclipse this morning?
Today we had a wonderful treat in the form of a trip to Tennessee Aquarium. JoAnne volunteers there, so we had members-only tickets (no specific times) and a wheelchair so dad could really relax and enjoy the day.
We started in the Rivers exhibit — all freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams. This building begins with a single drop of water on the top floor and then works its way down to ground level, with a large spiral walkway (all handicapped accessible, of course) that carries you from top to bottom.
Lunch was a quick outside hotdog at a concession stand owned by the Aquarium — good dog, but not warm enough! — and a cold drink. The birds enjoyed the leftover chips and bun remnants. By now, the hordes of sparrows and finches are almost tame, and came quite close begging for bread crumbs. We finished our lunch and headed over to the Oceans exhibit, which encompasses all things saltwater. There are beautiful penguins, coral reefs, and a tank full of sharks.
Pizza for dinner tonight. To bed early — we leave for parts north tomorrow morning. Sleep well!
