Day 35: Chattanooga, TN to Staunton, VA
Short entry tonight — today has been in the car on 1-81, with lots of slow downs due to accidents and road construction, and not enough rest stops available. (Boo to the Virginia Department of Transportation for not putting more than one rest stop in 150+ miles.)
Staying tonight at a Marriott where I’ve stayed before, but this time, managed to find Massaki Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, where we carried out an excellent chicken habachi dinner (complete with shrimp appetizer, miso soup, and salad; a “child’s plate,” but plenty for at least two people) and tuna sushi for dad. 5 stars, y’all!
I am happy because this meal did not involve fast food, and Dad is happy because 1) we are not moving at the moment and he can stretch his back, 2) he got sushi for supper, and 3) there’s a hockey game on. <smile>
Good night — hope everyone out there sleeps well. Tomorrow we head to Pennsylvania!
P.S. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has called, texted, emailed, and otherwise been in touch to make sure we’re doing OK. It means the world to me that so many people are watching out for us, praying for us, thinking of us, and calling to say “just checking in on you today.” I LOVE YOU ALL.
