The Great American Road Trip 2021

Days 16 & 17: Pekin, IL

Spent a lot of time these two days just visiting with family, eating Sara’s good food, and watching old episodes of The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix. (In other words, just relaxing.) Finally got all 6 emails to cooperate in Outlook, and new computer is working great.

On Mother’s Day, David drove down to Pekin for a family dinner of spaghetti and meat sauce, salad, and garlic bread. Dessert was a Napoleon-esque concoction made of four layers of pie shell filled with cheesecake pudding and with chocolate chips and chocolate sauce drizzled on top. (YUM)

Managed to get three of the brothers together for group photos, too.

Tomorrow morning we hit the road for Mississippi. We’ll get to Cape Girardeau, Missouri (about halfway home) and stay in a lovely Courtyard by Marriott in downtown. I’ve stayed there before, and it’s a lovely converted bank building with a view of the river. Looking forward to finding some delicious dinner. BBQ?

Good night, all — sleep well!
